I am a contemporary painter based in Carshalton.
My practice is rooted in intuitive exploration of shapes, colours and materials. I search for an emotional resonance by investigating the spectrum between abstraction and representation and the subtle relationships between visual elements and human experience. These inquiries result in semi-abstract work that evoke personal memories and emotional landscapes. I see each piece as a visual echo of a moment or a feeling that words cannot fully express.
Materiality plays a central role in my work. I enjoy experimenting with textures, layering techniques, and a limited palette to create tactile surfaces that invite touch and reflection. I often blend materials to explore the compatibility of forms and ideas. My process is deeply sensory, and I want viewers to feel the urge to touch my paintings, just as I do. My aim is also for my work to trigger mixed emotions and I often mix visual dialogues to achieve this.
Overall, my work aims to offer the viewer a contemplative space, an invitation to pause and connect with the subtleties of human experience.
I recently studied art and design at West Dean College, but I am mostly self-taught, having been painting since childhood.
